ODDBALL EXHIBITION UNDER WAY!

WHERE TO START?
The Oddball Exhibition night went well, and better than I expected. (For those who haven’t been keeping up with my blog: I was the featured artist at the Progress Energy Art Gallery (PEAG) this month). Great turn out; I spoke to a few regulars and many more that I didn’t know. The discussions and comments were enlightening. Folks loved the large painting, “Cerebral Stew” (48”x74”) and proved a great vehicle for an open discussion about Surrealism.

WHIMISICALLY ENTERTAINING
The conversations drew much interest from the figures and images juxtapositions. The entrails of diversions brought forth revelations and discoveries from the viewers; and much to my surprise, new discoveries that I had not placed within the painting. Yet, all in all, I’m not sure that I had the “WOW!” factor at work for me? It seemed that the focus of the evening was my explanations of the making of the paintings. Next time, I’ll ask questions, keep my mouth shut, and wait for the answers.

FREE ARTIST CARDS
My free artist cards (pencil and charcoal drawings on baseball card sizes) were warmly received as a reward for finding me in any of the paintings. Also, I also gave out some cards to folks I knew the previous week. Those who came could claim the cards at the gallery. At first, I didn’t think that anyone would come to get them but they did!!

MUCH THANKS
I must thank Nancy, PEAG curator, for her wonderful patience with me. I asked her to keep the gallery open that Saturday during one of the largest festivals in New Port Richey, “Chasco”. It was good that we did. We did get a steady stream of visitors during and after the parade.

OK I'LL GO EASY ON YOU - CUT IT SHORT
The exhibition will be open until April 27th at PEAG, so no excuses please come out.
Next time … how on earth will I bring home that huge painting? And a break in my style that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. I’ll upload an image for your review. Plus a surprise phone call ... Cya.
